Opening and closing accounting periods
Lock past periods to prevent changes and keep reports stable.
Why periods matter
Accounting periods let you lock the past once it has been reviewed. When a period is closed, no new postings are allowed into it, so your filed reports cannot change unexpectedly.
If you have not configured periods, postings are allowed by default — set up periods when you are ready to enforce monthly or yearly closes.
